Usage: Albon Oral Suspension should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Follow your veterinarian's instructions as prescribed. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule. Shake well before use. During the treatment period, ensure that your pet has continuous access to fresh, clean drinking water to maintain adequate water intake. Administer the complete course of the medication as prescribed, even if your pet's condition has improved. Failure to administer the entire course of treatment may cause recurrence or worsening of the infection. Contact your veterinarian ahead of time if your pet needs a refill.

Missed Doses: Administer the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give more medication than prescribed or two doses at once. If you have questions about your pet's prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please consult your veterinarian.

Side Effects: Sulfadimethoxine is generally well tolerated; the only documented side effect reported for this medication is diarrhea. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list, and other side effects may potentially occur. Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet experiences any symptoms of a dry eye syndrome called keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), including eye redness and⁄or discharge, increased blinking,or squinting. You should also contact your veterinarian if you notice your pet has crystals or blood in the urine; difficulty urinating; skin conditions (e.g., sores, severe itching, fur loss, skin that appears “burned”); increased thirst and⁄or urination; any signs of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficulty breathing, facial⁄throat swelling, rash); or if you notice yellowing of the skin, whites of the eyes, and⁄or gums. Notify your veterinarian if your pet experiences any of the effects described above, or if you notice any other side effects that are persistent or troublesome. If you notice anything unusual, please consult your veterinarian.

Precautions: For animal use only. Not for human use. Individuals with sulfa allergies should handle this medication carefully. Avoid contact with the skin and mucous membranes. Wear gloves when handling the medication if possible and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water afterward (even if gloves are worn). Albon should not be used in dogs or cats with marked liver damage, blood dyscrasias, or in those with a history of sulfonamide hypersensitivity. Do not administer Albon to animals with a known or suspected allergy⁄hypersensitivity to any sulfonamide (“sulfa”) drug, including this medication or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Please inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known sensitivities or allergies, especially to medications and supplements. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; and widespread hives or itching.

Drug & Food Interactions: The following drugs* may have potential interactions with this medication: antacids (containing aluminum, calcium, and⁄or magnesium), antidiabetic agents (including insulins), cyclosporine, methotrexate, NSAIDs, selegiline, SSRIs (e.g., fluoxetine, sertraline), and warfarin. *NOTE: this may not be a comprehensive list. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when multiple medications and⁄or supplements are given together. Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications, supplements, and over-the-counter (OTC) products that your pet is currently using. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosages or monitor your pet more closely.
