We have three of these gates and they have worked wonders and saved our house. The dogs have not pulled them out of the doors and the only times they go through is when I forget to close the gate. The cats are able to escape the dogs and easily work the smaller openings. The dogs have run directly into the gates at full speed while chasing the cats and they have not come down. I also installed these gates myself while pregnant. One of the gates uses the extension and while that was a little more difficult to do alone, it is possible. I am back to buy another gate to change the configuration of the area where we permit the dogs.
Date published: 2011-11-02

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hiker603 from I love this gate! I have had this gate for two years and it is fantastic! I have 3 dogs and 2 cats. The gate allows the cats to have access to their food and a quiet area all day. There are 4 people in our family and the gate is in a high-traffic area, and is sturdy and dependable. Follow the instructions exactly, and installation will not be a problem. I have taken the gate down many times to move large objects through the doorway, and putting it back up is never a problem.
Date published: 2011-10-15

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lark from As pet parents to an elderly cat and a newly rescued 50+ pound 1 yr. old lab/bulldog mix dog, this gate has been a life saver! The cat spends most of her day sleeping on our bed and the dog was constantly jumping up on the bed to get the cat. The only problem we had with the gate was the small door opening was amazingly big enough for the 50+ pound dog to squeeze through! We were able to solve that little problem by cutting one of the 2 bars out of the small door and then leaving it latched. The cat can easily go through that opening.
Date published: 2014-03-29

Rated 3 out of 5 by Archie1234 from Cat Door WAY TOO BIG! The gate works sufficiently as a barrier, until that cat door is open. I have several dogs (from 10 pounds to 105 pounds) and I originally got this gate to keep them in the main part of the house so they couldn't get out in the back hallway/family room where I couldn't see them. (They'd go out there to do things I didn't want them doing. For example, my counter-surfer used to take her loot out there to eat undisturbed.) Now, my rescue/foster dogs have the back of the house, separated from my personal dogs by this gate. I mounted it to the doorway with the wall cups so the big dogs couldn't knock it down when they jumped up on it, and it has effectively blocked that doorway for over 2 years now. It has never fallen down, it has stood up to even big, powerful dogs without a problem. (The little dogs can get through the small door, so I just keep it closed. My cats have no problem jumping over the top.) The handle "broke" a year ago, the clasp doesn't slide back automatically when I lift the handle, but DOES slide closed when I push down on the handle. I can slide the clasp back with a finger after lifting the handle, so though it's not as convenient, it's still easy to open with one hand.
Date published: 2009-01-07

Rated 4 out of 5 by kiwigal from Tall Gate Love the walk-through feature; however the "width" of the walk-through area of the main gate is rather narrow for older doorways. Also you HAVE to screw in the plastic cups for the gate to be stable and ALL my cups broke this weekend, just snapped in half at the screw hole when we banged the gate; not even that hard, so they are a bit brittle... if I can't replace those 4 parts the gate literally will not work as the plastic slips in the doorway without those cups so that part of the construction is a bit flimsy... You can see by the attached picture that the dogs we are keeping behind the gate are not small (Shiloh Shepherd mother and son)... so strong and stable is really important to us...
Date published: 2011-03-21

Carlson™ Pet Products Extra Tall Walk-Thru Pet Gate Reviews - page 2

y_2020, m_2, d_25, h_16

bvseo_bulk, prod_bvrr, vn_bulk_3.0.5

cp_1, bvpage1

co_hasreviews, tv_2, tr_64

loc_en_US, sid_6557, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=HELPFULNESS, direction=DESCENDING), SortEntry(order=POSITIVE_FEEDBACK, direction=DESCENDING), SortEntry(order=SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]

clientName_petsmart

bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0

CLOUD, getReviews, 125ms

reviews, product
