product highlights

Developed by a veterinarian in a feline-only practice, Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract Litter is the litter cats love. This litter is designed to make it easier to get cats of all ages trained or re-trained to use the litter box, and offers optimal odor control while being virtually dust free.

Features:

  • Problem cat training litter
  • Natural herbal attractant
  • 99% dust free and hard clumping
  • Superior odor control

    Material: Clay
    Package Weight: 20 lbs
    Advice for Use:
    1. Replace LITTER WITH CAT ATTRACT. Cat Attract has a unique herbal scent to attract cats and a texture pleasing to cat's paws.
    2. FRESHNE UP. Remove clumps daily. If your cat doesn't respond to a cleaned litter box, you may need to replace it. Old boxes become scratched and permeated with a scent your cat may find offensive.
    3. ADD MORE BOXES. Set up more litter boxes than the number of cats in your household. Place the boxes in differentareas.
    4. DESTROY THE EVIDENCE. Eliminate any trace of odor from the "trouble spot." Clean the area with Dr. Elsey's Urine removal Program (avoid ammonia-based cleaners).
    5. TAKE THE HOOD OFF. Hoods trap odor. A cat my reject the litter box because of odor retained.
    Directions:
    1. Fill clean, dry litter box with 3-4 inches of Dr. Elsey's litter.
    2. Scoop waste twice daily and refill box as necessary.
    3. Replace entire box once a month. Disposed of used litter in trash. DO NOT FLUSH.

After we moved to our new place with 4 cats, our youngest fixed male cat decided to spray to claim his new territory. Just terrific. New house, nasty smells. The carpet cleaning bills were adding up. I found this litter at PetSmart and decided to try it. We had tried everything else, including multiple, meticulously clean boxes placed strategically thoughout the house; as well as an expensive calming topical treatment for the particular cat. The litter was highly attractive and pleased all four of the cats immediately. It has worked so well that we rescued a tiny kitten from my in-laws' vehicle undercarriage; and have been able to raise her successfully in our multi-cat household. Recently, an outspoken relative walked into the house and proclaimed to her husband, "Oh honey, it doesn't even smell like cat in here"! I could only imaging the conversation leading up to that statement. As a cat lover, I was actually relieved to hear her remark, and chalked it up to an excellent litter product. From the youngest 6 week old kitten to our eldest 12 year old veteran, our cats love this litter.
Date published: 2006-11-29

Rated 5 out of 5 by WHISKEY2013 from FANTASTIC PRODUCT Whiskey has been urinating on my living room chair and sofa for a year now. I was getting desperate and did not want to give him up. I have had him since he was a baby (he's a year old now) and have been using pupply pads daily. Trying new litters all the time and finally came across this one. As soon as I filled up the litter box Whiskey pawed at it and then laid in the box! He loved it and has been urinating in it for a week now. I am so happy with this product. My other two cats also prefer this, they are ignoring the other litter boxes with the other brands of litter. I can't tell you how happy I am I found this litter. I was determined to find something that worked. Please believe all the reviews and try this for your problem cat. We bought a new house last year in March and out 10 year old sister cats were ok for a little while. That was until one of them decided to start peeing all over in random spots in the basement, which is the only place in the house with carpets. At first, we thought maybe we didn't clean the litter box enough, or maybe she was mad about something; maybe she no longer liked the corn litter we'd been using for the past two years...then we thought she was marking because our house backs up to the woods and wildlife outside the back patio door in the basement is common. We thought maybe she was stressed out and bought the Feliway products. Those helped a little bit but after a while, she gave up on the box altogether. I was out of mind trying to figure out what to do. We bought an extra box (taking us to three for two cats)...I had puppy pads taped to the baseboards in all the spots she would frequent. I took her to the vet and spent $200 on bloodwork and exams for them to tell me what I already figured...it was all behavioral because there was physically nothing wrong with her. We were in PetSmart one night and I was talking to an associate that worked there. He said this stuff would do the trick...out of pure desperation, I went with it. I emptied and cleaned one of the litter boxes and poured the Cat Attract in. WITHIN FIVE MINUTES, she was in the box! I thought to myself, "there's no way this will work that easily..." Well, I stand corrected because it has now been over 5 months and she has not revisited a single spot in the basement. I pulled up all the puppy pads after the first few weeks of using the Cat Attract and was praying she wouldn't be tempted but she hasn't. In fact, out of the three litter boxes BOTH cats use this one more than the other two. We have even started mixing some of the Cat Attract litter in with the corn litter and that seems to get them to use the other boxes more. They tell you not to mix them but I have so much of the old corn litter left and refuse to let it go to waste! I will say the sprinkle Cat Attract that comes in a small canister did not seem to work at all on the corn litter and the cats could have cared less about it. It is great litter...there is virtually NO DUST. I would say the ony downside to it is how heavy it is but that's expected since it's clay litter. We had switched to Worlds Best a few years ago (which we still swear by and love...) and the corn litter is SO MUCH LIGHTER to scoop, to dispose of...to carry out of the store, but if this Cat Attract is what I need to use in order to keep my house free of urine smells and costly DIY projects to pull out the carpet and put down tile, then I can live with the weight of the bag! You definitely won't be disappointed!
Date published: 2013-01-21

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shellyh from So Far...So Good We (my 7 year old female Domestic Shorthair and I) just moved in with my fiance and his 7 year old female Bengal --- it's been a screeching, hissing few months to say the least. We've done everything right...introducing them slowly giving them each their own space...multiple litter boxes...separate food dishes...all the right things. Unfortunately, my cat, who has NEVER in her life gone outside of the litter box is now going anywhere but IN the litterbox including spraying which is very unusual for a fixed female. It is a disaster, not to mention a smelly mess for everyone. My vet recommended this litter in addition to other products to treat the areas she is spraying/urinating in, etc. We have been using the Cat Attract litter for two weeks and are seeing a DEFINATE IMPROVEMENT. She is actually USING the litterbox! Who would have thought this would actually make me so proud it would almost bring tears to my eyes? Anyone who comes home to the smell of cat urine and finds themself crawling around on the floor with nose to carpet knows exactly what I'm talking about...I was going insane! The problem is not yet solved but so far...so good. This litter is definatley helping and I will continue to buy it. An added bonus is that it is a fantastic clumping litter with minimal dust. In general, I actually like the litter itself. If you have a cat who is marking and going outside of the box (so to speak) - my heartfelt sorrow goes out to you...try this litter and be diligent and PATIENT with your cat. Don't get frustrated! Your cat isn't being 'bad'. He/she is just trying to tell you something. In my case - she was trying to tell me she was really, really ticked off we moved AND that this other cat was part of the deal. I can't really blame her - she was an only child for 7 years!
Date published: 2006-10-08

Rated 5 out of 5 by ElaineS from 20 lb bag lasts a long time This is the best litter out there. Before I started using it, my new kitten ignored his litter box, preferring to go to the bathroom under my bed (yuck). Only minutes after I replaced the ordinary litter with Cat Attract, he jumped into the litterbox and used it, and has been using it happily ever since. She is now almost 3. I was so upset because the cat would go out of her way to walk around the litter box and #2 behind it. I then learned she was sneaking into the basement and eliminating on the concrete floor. Mind you, a litter box was right there. As upsetting and frustrating as it was, I dealt with it. But when I closed off the basement, I realized that she was not using the litter box to urinate as well. I was beside myself. She ruined lots of carpet and caused lots of scrubbing of a concrete floor. Needless to say, this cat created turmoil between me and my daughter as I asked my teenage daughter to either work with the cat or find her a new home. Health problems were ruled out and I tried many different brands of litter. You name it; we tried it, to include plain clay litter. Nothing worked. I was determined to try everything possible to help this cat before I found it a new home. As a last attempt, I went to the pet store one evening and found Cat Attract. I bought a new litter box, put it in a new area (bathroom) and filled with this litter. I picked the cat up several times throughout the day and placed her in the litter box. I praised her, gave her treats. Would go as far as sitting in the bathroom with her, door closed and would pick her up and put her in the litter box and hold her there a few minutes while talking in a soothing voice... She would jump out, I would pet her and talk nice to her and do it again, usually about five minutes(which seemed like a long time) It took some coaxing and the first time she did #2, I praised her and gave her treats. We then graduated to both #1 and #2 in the litter box (although she does not cover #2 that will be a later lesson.) I love this litter; however, it is pricey. Also happy that it is for the most part dust free and it clumps well. I strongly encourage you to try this product if you are having extreme elimination issues with your cat. With a little patience and determination, I do believe you can train your cat to use the litter box.
Date published: 2015-01-29

Rated 4 out of 5 by grammieh from it worked!! One of my cats started eliminating on rugs, she hasn't had this problem before.
