Bugs, you say? Go on…
- Leopard geckos (also known as Leos) go crazy for a succulent mixture of worms and “gut-loaded” crickets — that is, live crickets that have been fed the vitamins geckos need. Adult Leos only need to eat four to five times a week, which makes them a relatively low-maintenance lizard.
- For complete nutrition, dust your gecko’s bugs with a calcium powder 2-3 times per week & with a multivitamin once every 2 weeks, unless instructed otherwise by your veterinarian.
- For hydration, give your Leo a shallow dish of fresh drinking water daily. Put a large rock in the bowl so any crickets that accidentally get in the water can escape. (They will meet their fate eventually, however; Leos love the hunt.)
