PetSmart Training School Is In Session

Dog-training classes for everything from basic commands to advanced-level manners

Potty training

This one-time, people-only seminar is a one-hour overview for pet parents waiting for their new pup to arrive, or who have brand-new puppies not yet old enough for a group class.

Puppies under 5 months old learn basic cues like “sit,” “down” and “come” as well as how to graciously accept cuddles. Potty training and crate training are also covered. Pups learn how to socialize with other dogs and to obey commands even when they’re distracted—in this case, by the other furry “students.”

If you have a dog over 5 months with no previous training, or you just don’t know where to begin, this class covers all the basics, including commands like “stay” and “lie down” and leash-walking skills.

A skill-building series ideal for Puppy or Beginner graduates. Intermediate training adds waiting at doors, plus “heel,” “come” and “stay” with distractions and distance, “go to bed” and more.

Dogs love entertaining their humans! Pups 5 months or older who have passed an introductory class will learn tricks such as “crawl,” “take a bow,” “high five” and the crowd-pleasing “roll over.”

This class is all about polish and focus. Teachers skip the training aids (like harnesses and treats), and throw in more distractions for your dog to cope with.
