All of PetSmart’s grooming salons are open with reduced hours. Please go online or call your local salon to confirm your local store is currently open and its hours of operation. You can also book an appointment online or through the PetSmart mobile app.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, PetSmart has placed the safety of our pet parents and customers at the center of our operations and implemented stringent measures in our salons that meet or exceed all relevant health and safety standards. These measures include:
Installation of transparent hanging safety partitions between grooming tables, which reduces the possibility of droplet transmission and provides an additional layer of protection for salon associates.
Digital check-in and payment options to remove unnecessary contact points.
Social distancing tape has been placed on salon floors in areas indicating where customers should stand and where groomers can walk. Additionally, only one pet family is allowed in the salon lobby at a time to help maintain proper distancing.
Plexiglass counter shields located in all salon lobbies as an added safety measure.
Enhanced cleaning measures continue to be performed between each service and at the end of each day.
Appointments-only policy in Canada for standalone services like nail trims, nail grinds, Pawdicures and Pawdicure Plus packages. Please call your local salon to schedule an appointment. Walk-in services are available in most of our U.S. and PR stores.
Why is regular pet grooming important?
Unlike hair and nail salons for people, regular pet grooming is important for every dog, regardless of size, age and coat type. It helps prevent common problems such as excessive shedding, skin and paw irritation, painful hair mats and excessively long toenails.
Over the years, we have learned from pet parents that maintaining their dog’s skin and coat at home can be challenging. Dogs come in all shapes, sizes and temperaments, and the risk of a relatively minor mistake, like cutting the quick of nails, can quickly escalate to more serious veterinary issues. Similarly, a dog with a severely matted coat may fall outside of a pet parent’s ability to groom. Additionally, sometimes groomers can be the first to recognize a pet’s medical issue like fleas and ticks or an ear infection and alert the pet parent to seek veterinary care.
