Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great for a pet rock! I wouldnt put a living animal in this. Bettas need 2.5 gallons or more. plase do your research just becuase they can live in it for a long time dose not mean they are happy. you could live in a 10ft by 10ft room for your entire life and be just fine but you wouldnt be happy. please just get a 5-gallon tank for your Betta with a heater, filter, plants. or dont get one at all

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Much too small for an animal This 'aquarium' has no filtration system, poor lights, and no room for a heater. In general, animals like to move, stretch, and be in a clean environment. This tank does none of these things for a pet. Please do a bit of research and try to wisely spend your money on something more worthwhile for yourself and pet in the long run.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from still not big enough petsmart... The minimum tank size for a betta is 2.5 gallons, but 5 or 10 gallons is recommended. Betta fish are still fish that produce waste, so they also need a filter! (and plants do not filter the water. they *do* remove *some* ammonia and nitrates from the water, but not nearly enough to properly filter an aquarium, and this isn't a large outdoor pond with tons of other biological filtration in the middle of a thousand year old forest. this is .5 gallon of water and ammonia will build up to toxic levels in less than 24 hours without a filter) and they're tropical and cannot produce their own body heat; they rely on the temperature of the water to regulate bodily functions like digestion and blood circulation, and need temps of 78-82 to be healthy, which means they also need a heater :) ALSO, with the size of the tank (.5gal) its nearly impossible to cycle properly ("cycling" refers to the nitrogen cycle wherein bacteria in the filter break down ammonia and turn it into nitrite, then another bacteria takes that nitrite and turns it into nitrate. nitrate is safe for fish but only in small quantities (refer to a water test kit) (also cycling takes about a month, and should be done before adding fish) while a filter and a heater can be added later, it would honestly just way cheapter to pay 10-15$ for a 5-10 gallon tank and add a heater and filter instead of spending money on a tank that you can't use to properly house your fish. plus your fish will be happier, healthier, and live longer! always do as much research as you can for any pet you intend to purchase, and give them at least the basics, and then upgrade when and where you can :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too small for any kind of fish This is much too small for any kind of fish, even a betta. It can't be heated safely, and bettas are tropical fish, needing their water at about 77-80 F degrees. Might be cute to take pictures in, or to hold a fish while doing a water change, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fine For Bookshelf It's fine so far. It's tucked in a bookshelf so the cats don't get it. My beta was s "baby" to start and she loved it. Not sure if that's a factor. Goid starter tank for small space.

Does it come with a small filter? What size carriages does it take?

Asked by: VickiHiggins
No, if you are looking for a tank with a filter you will have to go bigger in size.
