product highlights

Throughout the day you'll see Goldfish pecking at gravel and stirring up the dust in search of an overlooked morsel. Goldfish are bottom feeders, and constant grazers much like livestock, always on the hunt for a juicy bite to nibble. Much of their time is consumed by this activity. At feeding time, they become very competitive, pushing and shoving each other out of the way. If you have several fish in a tank you might consider it more of a feeding frenzy. You may notice that goldfish will grab a bite and head for the bottom of the tank before darting back to the surface for a second bite. In the wild, predators may be lurking at the surface; this behavior is a lifesaving instinct.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from May be shy at first, but are smart and beautiful I have my little Ryukin with a black moor in a 30 gallon, and I love these guys! He's like an older brother to the black moor, guiding him to food (since the black moor can't see that well), and very happy! In the store, he was very energetic and not shy at all, but was hiding in the plants when he was brought home. It took him a few days to warm up to me, but now he swims around his tank happily when I'm around. He's starting to get that I'm his caretaker and says hello. LOVES TO EAT. I would strongly advise not keeping him with telescope eyed goldfish, because I have to make sure my black moor gets any he eats so fast! Very peaceful. The snails and black moor have accepted him as family. His name is Yin, and his adopted sister the moor is Yang. So my Yin Yang fish are very happy! I recommend this to beginners, but they must be able to provide plenty of attention and care, doing a lot of research!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Pleased These fish have the appearance of a fancy goldfish, and less of the issues. They are not prone to eye problems, but are to digestive issues, if not given proper care. They should be more along the lines of intermediate, not beginner, but are fairly easy to care for. Just treat them the same way you would any other goldfish and they'll love you for it. The one I bought most recently, the one I had before having died, is extremely clever and has a very lively personality. I totally suggest these fish, as they are very fun and unique.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so curious and playfull I just purchased a baby calico Ryukin. he is so adorable! i have him with a one yr old oranda and he follows her around like shes his momma. its so cute. they also are very hardy with water tempatures so they are a little bit better for beginners than say an oranda or black moor(bemuse of their bad eyesight)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Collect your Gold! This is one of the most hardiest fish i ever got. I bought one of these and a fantail for a 5 gallon tank with a 20 gallon filter. (I am using this as a holding tank until my 20 gallon aquarium with a 50 gallon filter is getting ready). The fantail already died in the first three days but the ryukin is still energetic and lively.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wrong naming These are NOT ryukin goldfish. You have the RIGHT ones listed as "Red & white Ryukins" but these are Veiltail goldfish. Completely different in look and size... Label your fish right. Love the fish though. Although you sold me TWO with FIN ROT!!!!!! Will not be buying any more fish from yins though! Have a great day (:
