Rated 1 out of 5 by Gmen from Quality is very good But they get one star largely because of the HUGE price increase!! That being said, Castor and Pollux was already one of the highest priced brands out there at over $60 for a 22 lbs bag. This new formula and $80 price tag for a 22 lbs bag has priced them out of the market. At least is has for me based on my budget. I've been a loyal customer for the past 5 years but at $80 a bag I am defecting and I have a difficult time believing that regardless how much research went into this new formula that I will be the only customer who feels this way. In fact I don't see how they will attract new customers at this price point when there are so many other brands who offer natural ingredients. I love this brand but being on a fixed income I am EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED that I have to move on to another brand of dog food due to this unreasonable increase!!! Rated 2 out of 5 by Michelle from Quality below average vs. Natural Ultramix Thank you for the opportunity for my Schnauzer Pearle to review this product. I purchased a bag of the beef flavor as a comparison when we received the chicken. Her favorite (loved it !) has been the Ultramix Beef with the raw bites (pictured)which we cannot find anymore locally. I'm not sure what we will try at this point. I trust the ingredients in your food the most, but sadly we were both disappointed in quality(me) and flavor (Pearle), she didn't care for the taste of either Pristine Chicken or Pristine Beef and I have half of both remaining. I was more disappointed in the "food dust" that was in both bags, seems wasteful even if the weight is what is states on the bag. Honestly I sifted it because Pearle was coughing on the dust as she was trying to eat the first few bowls. I compared both as well and there was 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 cups of debris for both types of Pristine. I'm glad I purchased both flavors to see that it was not just the Chicken with that much waste. This is the first time I've reviewed pet food so it was interesting and am hopeful that my thorough review will help in the process. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by Katie from My dogs liked it, but... I've used Castor and Pollux Ultramix grain free formulas in the past, including the red meat formula with freeze dried pieces. Although my dogs liked this food, the freeze dried pieces in this formula mostly fell apart in the bag, so it was very dusty. It wasn't like this in the Ultramix red meat formula, so I'm not sure if it was because of the shipping or if that's just how this new formula is. I've had other brands with freeze dried pieces shipped to me in the past, and they weren't fallen apart like these were. Also, I wish the protein percentage was higher like it was with the Ultramix formulas. Overall, thus is still a very good food, and I continue to recommend Castor and Pollux to others. Rated 4 out of 5 by jagrre from Pup loves it, but that's not saying much! Our 3-year old Dachshund/Jack Russell loves it, though she'll eat just about anything. We usually give her a little spoonful of an Organix wet food on top of the dry twice a day. Since transitioning to the new recipe with the raw pieces, I've cut back some on the wet. Castor & Pollux was recommended to us after we adopted her, and it's all we've fed her. Their products appear to be of high quality, and this one is no exception. Rated 5 out of 5 by Anapie from My Little Guy Loves It We picked up this new bag yesterday for our 7 month old Boston Terrier/Chihuahua. He was previously on the Organix Brown Rice and Chicken Puppy food and thought of that as "okay". This morning we started him on the Pristine and he loved it. He took out a raw dried piece for inspection and approved. So far our first experience with the Pristine with raw pieces has been very good. If all goes well we will be purchasing the big bag! We also love that the animals are brought up for naturally for this brand and appreciate having the organic option.

Rated 4 out of 5 by GillyJack0411 from Excellent Quality Ingredients My dogs normally eat the Ultramix Chicken and Sweet Potato and really loved this when I transitioned them. However, the pieces were very small and I have 2 English Mastiffs so this was concerning as they tend to eat fast and could choke. Also, the last several cups were crushed/ground up so it was a waste. (see attached photo) Thanks for including us in the trial! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
