We always use a premium bird food in our big feeder outside the kitchen window, and actually pay attention to the volume and makeup of the birds dining at our "bird restaurant". We had been using another brand's top-of-the-line food, that we were buying at our local hardware store. It produced the largest volume and variety of birds. When we weren't able to obtain that food, I bought some of this Songbird food at the supermarket, and the birds really liked it. It has a cherry scent to it that seems to help attract the birds. For some reason, in our area, the availability of particular bird foods is very hit or miss -- it might be on the shelf at the supermarket or hardware store, or it might not. Enter PetSmart. Their price for this great bird food is excellent, and if you order several bags, you can get free shipping. This is now our current practice: order several bags of the Kaytee Songbird food at once from PetSmart with free shipping.

I purchased this food because my outdoor birds were fussy and did not like anthing else! They just love the food and I've got so many different species. Can't wait for winter to see what other species will come along. I tried other brands only to find out my birds didn't come back. I also mix with this food a bit of sunflower seeds. You just can't beat the mixture. I bought five 14 pound bags and will buy more when needed. I hope Petsmart will keep the price right.

I got this along with a feeder for Father's Day. In less than 15 minutes of putting this up, there were birds on it, even in the rain!
I've had a wide variety of birds at the feeder and enjoy watching them fight over who gets a turn first!
