National Geographic™ Aquarium Filter
Very Noisy Due To Defective Motor
the motor comes out of line very easily leaving the filter very noisy. I had to lube it up with Vaseline 2x today alone, if not it starts humming very loud. For the people who are not experiencing this, trust me you WILL. For those who ARE having this problem either return the filter or get the Vaseline out and start lubing the motor piece inside

Awesome and quiet!
I bought this filter for my 10G Half Moon Marineland tank because the one that came with it died on me. From what I can tell so far, it's awesome and really quiet. It's also neat that you can adjust the flow setting. I just wish there was an extension on the pipe, because I have a taller tank.

Excellent water surface agitation/circulation
I love that this filter has adjustable flow. I needed it for a 5 gallon betta tank that came with a horribly low quality internal filter that didn't move the surface of the water AT ALL. Floki (the resident betta) was becoming less and less active due to the water not being oxygenated very well. INSTANT energy and happiness when I installed this filter. The water surface had that weird film build up. Pretty much instantly cleaned up by this filter.
Noise? If you listen for it and make everything quiet then yes you can hear a very low hum...maybe? It certainly is not anything bothersome whatsoever. I feel the negative reviews on this filter are far fetched. This is an excellent filter. I highly recommend it.

Great Potential, But EXTREMELY Noisy!!
I was very skeptical of buying this filter. Considering how new and how un-reviewed this filter was. After starting it up for the first time I could tell it would do a great job. There was one problem though. The motor is really really loud. I leaved it on for a couple hours hoping the noise would go down. It didn't. If National Geographic could fix this one issue. I would definitely buy it/the bigger one in a few weeks when I go from my 20 gallon to my 75 gallon. Again great filter if you don't care about the noise.
One other thing that kinda made me more skeptical about buying was that it did not come with Mechanical filtration. Only chemical, and biological. Meaning it came with one of the carbon sponges, and a sponge for biological. (One cartridge on each side).
