I received this filter with a 55 gallon package. I was skeptical at first. I have been a tropical fish enthusiast for over 50 years. I have been using this filter 24/7 for over 6 months and have no complaints as to it's function. . I have my aquarium in my home office. The motor is silent and the waterfall sound is relaxing. But it is difficult to clean the intake tube without making a mess of the aquarium water and the filter pads are expensive and do not last a month. I find it necessary to change bi-weekly. When it is necessary to replace I probably will try another product.

The Aqueon® QuietFlow Aquarium Power Filter works fine as a filter, but the maintenance is expensive. The cost of the Cartridges is high. However, the main problem with the QuietFlow, is that it is NOT quiet! The impeller makes a rattling noise. The first one of two that I bought lasted about 8 months before the noise began. I tried many methods to correct the noise but none of them worked. I bought the second one and it was loud out of the box. This impeller noise seems to be common with the Aqueon® QuietFlow Aquarium Power Filter.

This filter is loud. THere's really no way around it. I used household sponge to lessen the noise of the water hitting the surface, but there's nothing that can be done about a simply loud motor. For it's price, it's a nice filter and it does the job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Laura251 Works fine
I've had it a week now going in my 60 gallon tank. It's nice and strong, not exactly quiet, though. I originally got a Marineland Emporer 400, but that one sounded like it was going to blow up. It was broken out of the box; this one worked just fine. Therefore, this is the better filter.
