All Living Things® Chinchilla Starter Kit
Product needed to be modified...
I bought this a few years back, when I purchased a Chinchilla. Got it home and got to work. This product is not easy to assemble. Once the animal is in, the ramps keep falling off. Chinchillas love to bounce and run. The shelves dislodge... It's a pain to clean because you have to lift the cage... as opposed to sliding out the tray. And, with barely any use, I can no longer secure the top to the bottom. The cage had to be modified. I took out everything plastic... shelves and ramps. Put in two dense, wooden shelves. No ramps. The chinchilla just jumps from level to level. I give plenty of wood, so the shelves stay intact. He doesn't really like that kind of wood anyway. He pees in one spot at the bottom of the cage... so no need for that 'useful' plastic. Still sucks to clean. You people need to find a better cage.

I purchased this cage when I adopted my chinchilla. I liked that it came with all of the necessary supplies, so as a first time chin owner, I did not have to run all around Petsmart trying to remember everything I would need. I got it home and put it together easily. I did not include the wire rack thing because it is not good for their feet. I do not like that it is all plastic because I don't want him eating it and wrecking his digestive system, but I can modify the contents. The wooden rack did not fit on the cage because the metal washers/nuts went right through the bars. Overall, though, it is nice to look at and roomy :)

I got this cage and my chinchilla while they were both on sale about six or seven months ago. The price was only about $49.99, which is very fair for the quality, although I wouldn't pay the full price for it.
It's a very cute cage, and great to start with. Putting it together is initially very simple, and popping the cage itself up off of the bottom pan is easy and quick. My chin loves to hop from ledge to ledge and almost completely disregards her little bridges. She seems to enjoy it, and always returns to her cage when she's tired from her night of running around in my room. The hay holder is very cute, too, and she loves to play with it.
The cons, though. The ledges and food bowl are very easy for my chinchilla to chew on, although not chew through. The ledges are also pretty difficult to clean thoroughly, because it's a little hard to take them out of the cage itself. I've lost two of the little snap prongs that keep them in place on the bars already. The water bottle is not exactly leak proof, because when my chin starts jumping around in her cage when she's excited for a treat, it leaks a bit, so I have to keep a close eye on it. It leaks even more when it's about half full. The wooden ledge doesn't like to stay very much, so my chinchilla chews on it more than anything.
The hay and bedding that come with this kit are absolute rubbish. The hay is old, dry, thin and just an utter mess, so I suggest picking up a fresh bag of timothy hay with this purchase. The bedding gets everywhere and you'll be picking up little pieces of purple fluff for the next two weeks, especially if you've got a nervous chin who goes flying around their cage at the slightest noise for the first couple of weeks. I'd also suggest picking up some pine shavings for that.
Alltogether, though, it's not a terrible cage. It's good for a starter, like I said, but I'm already looking into upgrading :)

Good Cage If You Modify It
I purchased this for my one-eyed male chin. Overall this product is decent, however not as is.
The plastic levels I replaced with 4 smaller home made wooden ledges, which are much sturdier and safe for my chin to chew. The washers from the wooden ledge that came with this do not fit on the cage.
I didn't use the food dish, I added one that is a food dish/hay rack combined.
The water bottle actually surprised me because it didn't leak, I was actually gonna use a different one but it started leaking bad and this one didn't.
Also, you can't really use the carefresh because your chin would definitely make a huge mess because of the shallowness of the pan. I use a fleece liner, held down by the cage, and I didn't use the wire bottom part either.
Also, the food is not very good. I mixed it with some high fiber guinea pig pellets, and spent some time digging out all the big seeds, colorful bits, and dried fruit bits and I use those as treats instead.
Then I added a hammock, a chin chiller, and another chew toy that my chin uses as a perch. The treat-kabob is nice for my chin.
If this product came as just the cage without all the unnecessary and inappropriate components it would be nice.
