Rated 5 out of 5 by Pretzel Great tank; no complaints!
I bought this 5 gallon tank 11 months ago and it is perfect for my betta! The filter is relatively quiet and the lighting is excellent. I would recommend first-time betta owners to get this tank or a bigger one if you have enough money and space!:)

I bought the 2.5 gal tank for my teenage son for his birthday. It houses one male beta and has been a great first tank. We've had no issues with the filter or water clarity. It doesn't leak and with the help of a small heater, it stays a constant temp. We've done 1 partial tank cleaning to clear up waste sitting in the bottom of the tank, but that's all the maintenance we've had to do. Overall, I believe this is a very good product.

I've had this tank for 6 months. My sister gave me her betta, and I knew the tiny bowl he was in was horrible for his health. I immediately went to Petsmart to buy a tank on short notice. I chose this tank in the color black though I was later informed that a minimum tank size for a betta is 5 gallons. Please, buy at least a 5 gallon if you want multiple decorations for a betta. Space in this size of a tank is limited already.
I have had multiple problems with this tank. I'm so glad someone pointed out the filter and the cloudiness it causes. First, the filter is poorly placed. Water should flow over the filter, but the water barely does.
Second, due to the poor filter placement, water evaporates 1/2 an inch lower in a few days which is a problem because one part of the filter (the part that sucks waste off of the water's surface) MUST have water covering it. You always have to keep an eye on it.
Third, the filter cartridge needs changing every week or so because it takes on too much waste for its small size. It gets slimy and gross very quickly.
Fourth, the deepest part of the filter that sucks up stuff floating in the tank (food, waste, etc.) is so small that it gets full of gunk fast. You have to manually detach it to wipe/rinse it out OR the filter won't do its job which is filtering out the things it should.
Fifth, the tank leaks from the black seal at the top. I just started having this issue. I have a towel underneath the tank in case I don't pay attention to where the tank leaks when I fill it with water.
Sixth, THE BIGGEST REASON WHY I HATE THIS TANK, the water is always cloudy. Always. The first week that I had this tank I assumed the cloudiness was bacterial bloom. I thought the tank would cycle and it would be fine. After two months I realized that it wasn't bacterial bloom. I don't have green algae or black haired algae. The tank gets a white slim because of the poor filtering + poor cartridges. Every few days I have to do a 50% water change because of the cloudiness. For all of those who are thinking, "She shouldn't be doing that large of a water change constantly because she is ruining the cycle!" No. This tank is so hard to cycle it's unreal. I've been a fish keeper for years. I do liquid water testing often. It's great that everything reads zero on the ammonia side of it, but it is hard to cycle. Cycling eventually leads to a tank that can survive with minimal care and few water changes.
An important side note: I even bought another Mini Bow 2.5 gal for my cousin who had her betta in a bowl, and she has the same issues with cloudiness.
Please, spend the extra money on a bigger tank with a good filter. There are ways to make powerful filters not push your betta or other fish all over the tank. This tank will eventually cost you more than what it is worth when you waste time and money on cleaning, water changes, multiple filter cartridges, water clarifying liquids, etc. The good reviews on this product blow my mind. I hope that the good reviews were made by people who recently set up their tanks and didn't know how quickly everything would go down hill. I truly hope this helped anyone who was thinking of buying this tank.

I really wanted to like this tank. It's a great size, great price, came with great stuff. I have had some problems with it and I hope my experience will help someone else.
The filter system itself is oddly situated. Rather than being the typical vertical filter that hangs on the side or back of the tank, it lies flat across the tank from front to back taking up a good amount of space.
Because of this, I don't believe it filters properly--the filter cartridge itself isn't completely covered by the water which tells me it's not properly filtering.
I'm not sure if that is also contributing to water evaporation. I cannot find a single leak, yet I loose about a half an inch of water every couple of days, if not more. (However, I do have a heater but it shouldn't evaporate the water that quickly and that frequently.) Not to mention, the tank is usually cloudy, even after cleaning which also tells me the filter isn't really doing its job.
My biggest problem is the fact that my Betta fish is either jumping in, or getting sucked in by this filter (since it lies flat and is easy to get into). If I weren't home the 4 times it's happened so far, I'm not sure if he would have lived.
I would still recommend this tank, but I would highly recommend investing in a new filtration system.
I do like the LED light on the lid, however! The filtration system is pretty quiet, as well.
