Martha Stewart Pets® Shovel & Scoop Waste Kit
Horrible Martha Stewart Pet Shovel Scoop Waste Kit
HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!
And here's why:
#1) When I attempted to adjust the handle length, the handle completely fell out of the other end, instead of stopping. There was obviously supposed to be a stopper at the end to prevent the handle from falling out, but it wasn't there. Instead, I could hear it rattling around inside the other handle end. OK, so this wasn't a huge problem, because I just inserted the handle back in a little bit and carefully tightened the nut to hold it in before letting it fall out again. But, the story gets worse ...
#2) The straight-edge shovel doesn't pick up poo off of grass very well. Poo has a tendency to be slightly mixed with the grass, and this shovel tended to drag the poo out of the grass and smearing it. It gets worse ...
#3) The shovel is not permanently secured onto the handle. Instead, it rotates, or screws on, to tighten. However, while shoveling the poo in the grass, the shovel gets turned by the shoveling action and ... guess what ... the shovel gets loose and starts turning around and falling out. So I had to reach down to the shovel (where the poo residue is) and re-tighten the shovel onto the handle with my hands. This was so frustrating, as well as a little disgusting. This happened over and over and over on the first use of cleaning the yard. And it gets worse ...
#4) The bucket (which isn't very large and didn't hold a lot of poo) has 2 rubber holes that are to be used to hold a plastic bag into place. The engineering on these rubber holders are terrible ... the rubber holder in the rear CAME OUT COMPLETELY while trying to get a plastic bag in and out of it. And of course that meant that the bag wasn't held in place securely while putting poo into it. And now it gets really worse ...
#5) When shoveling the poo into the bag, you basically drag the poo into the bucket. And when you do this, the shovel scrapes the plastic bag against the shovel's edge and the bucket's edge, and rips the bag and makes holes in it. So in the end, I had a bucket with poo mixed in with shredded plastic, parts of which were being semi-held into place by the rubber holders which were partially in place and partially falling out of place. It was a complete and disgusting mess. Finally, while trying to get the poo/bag mixture out (with my hands), most of the poo fell back down onto the grass. So I had to go back with a new plastic bag and pick it up manually with my hands.
This product went back to the store immediately. I bought a different waste cleaner tool at PetSmart that I am totally loving so far. It cost a little more, but it holds bags well, picks up poo easily with prongs, and delivers the poo cleanly. I will write a full review of that product soon.
There is no way that Martha Stewart personally tested and approved this horrible product. I thought the name "Martha Stewart" meant quality and functionality, but apparently it doesn't. This product is NOT a good thing.

Amazed how well made the shovel and scoop are. Well done, Martha Stewart.
