Cons: distance, price, and overall dog happiness
Bottom Line: Sadly, I would not recommend this item. The idea of a doggie ball launcher sound super awesome, but when in fact it was quite disappointing.
Distance: The first thoughts after purchasing this ball launcher was how awesome it was and thinking how far it would launch the ball. Unfortunately it only shot 10-15 feet depending on wind and location. The packaging didn't specify the shooting distance, nor the speed of the ball after being launched.
Durability: This toy is made of hard plastic and could withstand everyday use, and/or a dog naughtily using it as a chew toy. If it was left outside it would more than likely fade and become brittle. The rubber bands on the inside that are used to launch the ball would probably be the first thing to break due to use and or extreme weather conditions.
Functionality: The ball launcher is very user friendly for most ages. You load the tennis ball into the barrel, pull back the handle which stretches the big rubber bands on the inside, aim, and pull the trigger to shoot it. It comes with a "hands-free" option where you just pick the ball up using the barrel or the launcher.
Price: In my personal opinion the ball launcher was a tad over priced for the experience my dog and I got. You could spend half the money on a Chuckit stick and get better satisfaction from that.
Overall Dog Happieness: When I first shot this toy my dog was a little skeptical of the popping sound it made, after a couple shots he got use to it. My dog is very large and needs to exercise since he is still young, and since the ball launcher didn't have great distance he didn't get worn out. After a few shots he also lost interest in the toy due to lack of the chase for the ball.
