I used both the shampoo and conditioner. My dogs skin is better and his fur is so soft. Yes it doesn't lather up like cheap shampoos but that's the oatmeal. Its fabulous and this will be my dogs shampoo and conditioner. Again Burt's Bees doesn't let me down. Thank you, CC

Coming from a hairstylist who uses sulfate free shampoos on myself, and has a lot of experience with them: sulfate free shampoos are going to be a little more "watery" and not give you a ton of lather and bubbles like a traditional shampoo, whether it's for dogs or people. This makes them much more gentle on the skin and hair by not having harsh soaps and sulfates that dehydrate the hair...so while the previous review did not like the product for these reasons, it actually is much better for your dog.
My dog is a lab mix with a coarse oily thick coat and I have found that if I thoroughly wet my dog before applying the shampoo, it works great! She has some problems with itchy skin, so I gave this one a try, specifically because it is sulfate free and pH balanced, so it won't dry her out more. I don't wash her very often, only between several trips to the dog park, as to not get rid of her natural "Lab" oils and dry her skin out more.
It doesn't smell as good as other shampoos with lots of added fragrance, but she still smells good afterward, just more like a clean dog, not like a dog doused in perfume.

What a mistake...thought I could trust Burt's Bees! Worst dog shampoo we've ever tried! It's runny and weak -- does not clean well, does not lather, does not smell good, and neither will your dog. Very disappointing. This shampoo just misses on every level. Sorry, Burt's Bees. Love your lip balm, hate your dog shampoo. :(
