I've bought several of these in the past years and they were made differently. The ones I got before, you could remove a panel if needed and store it to shorten the length. They had a pin that could be removed. They were also made with heavier gauge wire and was stronger and heavier. This one, I bought was the largest height and when shipped to the box was torn but the product was not damaged. Taking it out of box, I was surprised how tall it was and lighter to pick up and carry. Was not expecting that and just didn't think about the height for the largest one. I was expecting the same quality as in the past ones I have. This is tall, and sturdiness is somewhat weak for strong large dogs, which I have. But it does the trick for what I wanted it for while in house. I have not used it for outdoors, and expect the shiny gold tone metal will dull using for outdoors. It came with 4 weak metal clips, but work for now to enclose the panels to the gate. I would recommend stronger D clips if someone is using it more for a dog to keep in for longer times. The gate is a little awkward but it is walk thru basically with 2 latches and an outer safety feature to lock the door securely. This is not an item that one should leave a dog in unsupervised for hours, but use when dog needs a place to stay while dog owner needs to do house cleaning or guest arrive or feeding or time out. The panels are metal clipped and suppose you can remove them to shorten the length, but IMO in doing so, those clips become weak and flimsy. Midwest Company does or did make great pet items, just wondering if quality is being weaken to adjust to the affordability in cost. So, overall I got what I wanted and was looking for with my reason for this product, but I would give it about 90% approval just because of the way it is made and put together compared to my older ones. I gather the pricing of these exercise enclosures vary, and was the reason I chose this item in my review.

by Jennix13 So versatile
Purchased this for a 3 month old male mini doxie. Set it up next to the sliding glass door in my dining room & he stays in it while I'm at work. Put one of those potty patches, his bed & food in it & he has his own little room. It worked so well I bought a 2nd one to give him more space as he grew (connected the 2). Because he is so short it took him a little while to figure out how to jump over the little doorway but now that he is bigger it is no problem. He is not able to jump over the sides (got the 24"). We rented a cabin when he was 4 months old & brought these along. We were able to set 1 up to block off the stairs & the other was setup in the yard so he could enjoy time outside with us safely. The vacation would not have been as enjoyable if we would have been chasing after him constantly. He recently had to have abdominal surgery & is needing to stay isolated from the other animals for a bit. Separated the pens & set one up in the living room so he can still be contained and spend time with the family & safely see the other pets. He is not supposed to jump at all so I just unclip the pen & open up one of the panels to walk out so he doesn't have to jump over the doorway. He is now 9 months old now & it still works great. Make sure you get the correct height, this does not work for the chihuahua/jack russell mix that was added to the household later, that one is able to jump over the top (but it was not purchased for him).

I specifically ordered this because I love the "gleaming gold". It arrived n is a lifesaver due to its versatility. But it definitely is not gold. Maybe a dull tarnished hint of gold. So either I got a used one or this item is not as depicted.

I bought this for my 8 week old english bully. I've come to learn, if you lead your dog to the pen with the door open and leave some toys in there and some food and a bed, they may stay in there. Then, when you need to use it, they wont be so scared. I have used it for days where i want to sleep in, and because my pup sleeps in a crate, i cannot leave him in there too long, so this works perfectly! I will also be using it for days when i am at school for 8 hours. its a snap to assembly, and it can even double as a room divider if you want to keep an eye on your pooch but not pen him up. Well worth the money!
