Rated 1 out of 5 by BeagleswNoDoor I was close to DPinAZ (review above me) and thought about a cattle corral but it's our back door and I had to say enough with the madness. This door tested fine. I did everything they requested but, apparently, if the dog does not approach the door straight on with their head held high like they are in a show, then it does not work. We purchased the door to keep the cat in and at this point I'm close to telling the cat he can be free range because I can't spend anymore time troubleshooting for the sake of my own mental health. I do not recommend this door. Now we have a larger hole in the door which houses a VERY noisy dog door that makes a better paperweight.

I should have read the reviews first. Please ... if you have $200 to throw away, just mail it to me instead. The first one we got was incomplete -missing a tag and the AC adapter- so we had to take it back and replace it.
The second one was checked as complete before leaving the store. Got it home and did the pre-installation electronics setup. All went well, and the tag programmed with the three "beeps" correctly. But when I tried the test as documented, I couldn't get the door to open as the tag approached. I used the keypad to put the door into the "Open" mode, and it released just find so I knew it wasn't jammed or anything.
Then I thought I'd go ahead and install the software and connect via computer to see if there was something I was missing in the configuration. After doing the download and initial connection, the computer software said the device needed a firmware upgrade. So I approved that upgrade, and waited, and waited, and waited. After the screen saying it was 100% done but still "Working", I looked at the unit and there was no life. At this point, I stopped the software ... it's been over a half hour in this state so something was definitely wrong.
The end result ... "Dead". No power, no light, no LCD screen ... no nothing. Electrically dead. Tried everything including removal and replacement of the clock battery but without success.
It's going back to PetSmart, and this time I'll just get a refund. Thank God I didn't make the same mistake another reviewer made, and cut the big odd-shaped hole "before" making sure the thing actually worked.
1: If you buy this, don't connect to the computer.
2: If you connect to the computer, don't let it do a firmware upgrade
3: Don't buy this in the first place. The whole design and implementation have obvious and systemic quality control problems.
Sorry for the negative review ... I'm usually not such a "Donny-Downer" ... but this thing earned it. It just doesn't work.

This product is Junk, junk, junk!!!! Purchased two separate doors, one from the store (defective) and the second one online (again, defective). For the price, it should be far more reliable. Will not ever buy again. Went with the other company that costs a little more but had great reviews.

Rated 4 out of 5 by chihuahuamom5 Nice door
We bought this door because we have several little dogs that love to run in and out all the time. We wanted to stop cats (they are not our cats) from coming in. It works great, the only problem we have is that our 4lb chihuahua has a hard time using the door because it is heavier than our last one. I hope she will figure it out and not be so scared to use it.
