My 8 week old miniature dachshund figured out all he has to do is push up on either door with his nose. To contain him I have to use bread ties to secure the doors.

I only use this crate for rescued cats and it works just fine. But, I believe it's not strong enough for dogs.

This is a great crate. Durable, well made, and with the removable mid-wall, grew very well with our pup. I wish it came in 2 models: one with doors that opened left, and one with doors that open right. The only place we can put this in our house is with the side door against a wall and the front door opening awkwardly towards the wall. It's like having a fridge in the wrong corner. However, unlike a fridge, you can't simply flip the door. If I were to re-engineer this, I'd make it so it was either flippable, or make two versions.
Aside from that, though, we're really happy with it.

I purchased the large crate so my dog would have more room than his large travel crate permits. The design of the lifting gate permits him to use his nose to lift up on the door and get out in less than 2 minutes. At first I thought I was not properly latching it, but I video taped him and caught him in the act. For this reason alone, I cannot recommend this crate to anyone.
