National Geographic™ Jumbo Exploration Small Animal Loft
Best One Yet!
After my teddy bear hamster escaped from his undersized, cramped cage with an annoyingly squeaky built-in wheel, I decided to find a spacious, escape-proof cage in which I could put my own wheel of choice. This cage is perfect for my hamster's needs! He truly enjoys exploring and relaxing in his new cage. The only drawback is that he has trouble getting up to the loft because the ladders are a bit slippery, but a simple DIY project can fix that. PLEASE, don't bother with those tiny, cheap cages! This cage is well-worth the extra money!

This product was purchased about 2 months ago, when our daughter expressed an interest in a hamster. Mistake. We had to line all of the ramps with textured tape so the hamster could use them, she was just sliding down and unable to reach the upper levels. The worst part of this cage is the cleaning. We do a full clean every week, and it is almost impossible to get the pieces apart to clean them! I have broken one of the plastic tabs off, and every time I do finally get it apart, it sounds like it is breaking apart! So frustrating. If I still had the receipt for this cage, I would definitely take it back. Only good things are that it looks really nice, is very roomy, and airy for the hamster.

While this cage is nice in design, I would recommend it only for mice. All and All it has a great design and it leaves room for a wheels, toys and great burrowing room. I wouldn't put a gerbil or hamster in it because it doesn't even reach the lowest minimum, which is 350 square inches. For mice it looks amazing though :)

First off, the measurements in the description are not accurate - the actual cage is more than 10" high and there are no accessories with this set. Aside from that, very good quality. I bought this for two gerbils so they can burrow without it creating a mess. The ramps are metal so they cannot be chewed. My only issue is that they are steep, and my gerbils just slide right down. I had to put tubes in so they could get to the top section easily. Very spacious, easy to put together. I only wish there was a built-in wheel with it. The top door isn't the most secure, but only time will tell if they will be able to escape.
