Noisy but My Hamster's Comfort is More Important
I bought the biggest size they had. I would have bought the Silent Spinner, but it's not big enough in the end for my hamster. I see no point in getting a product and when the pet outgrows it to get the next size. He runs in it just fine. Pretty good actually. Last night as I was getting ready for bed he was running in it and must have ran too fast because he fell out of it. Thankfully he was fine, didn't even faze him. Yes, it does make noise. I have yet to oil it, with cooking oil safe for the hamster. It's in my room, so I do hear it. However, I have a TV so I don't honestly hear it until the TV goes off. But then as I go to bed, I wear earplugs (For a different reason had them before hamster), so he can run to his heart's content. But I do think that there must be a way for the product to be made to not make noise. You think it's not going to make noise, but give it time and it will. So three choices are: Deal with it, oil it up, or buy another one but know it will be too small for a Syrian. In the pictures my hamster, Thor, is only 2 1/2 months old and he's already a decent size for it.

Okay Sizes, VERY Noisy!
I mainly bought one of these wheels because the 8" sizing is the only wheel sold in stores that is appropriate for Syrian hamsters, and while it does it's job, it is quite stiff and also extremely noisy even after we tried oiling it. It did it's job while I waited for my hamster's Wodent Wheels to come, but now I'll most likely donate it to a shelter as it's just too noisy for me but I'm sure some Syrian in a shelter would be glad to have it.

Only SAFE wheel big enough for a syrian!
This wheel may be loud, but it's the only wheel that's safe for a syrian hamster (aka a teddy bear hamster, fancy hamster, panda bear hamster, etc.) for two reasons:
1. It has a solid surface; wire/mesh wheels are unsafe because they can cause a foot infection called bumblefoot
2. They are 8 inches big, or bigger, which is big enough for a syrian. A six-inch wheel is too small!!!
It's a good price, too...
