I followed the directions exactly in my 10 gallon tank. Water was crystal clear. These start dissolving the second water hits them. I buried them completely under 2-3 " of gravel. Within hours the tank was cloudy. So after almost 2 weeks of water changes it is FINALLY clearing up. These cause way too much work to be of any benefit. After searching online I discovered this is a common problem for these root tabs. I wish I had researched more than the petsmart reviews posted here. I could have saved myself a lot of time and effort.

Awesome stuff! I bought these because some seed pods I had for about 2 weeks weren't really doing anything yet. So I bought these and placed them directly next to or under the seed pods and after a week they were growing nicely, and after 2 weeks the plants were touching the water line of my 25 gal tank. The fish didn't mind at all. I have an otocinclus or oto cat, and they are fairly sensitive fish and it survived these so I feel it is safe to say that they are safe for fish. The water did turn very yellow though, and does fade after awhile but after a week from them being placed in the tank I did an 80% water change just to get rid of the yellow stained water. But other than that they are very affective I would say.

I bought this product about a month now, without any knowledge of it, (i guess fishing in the dark) so I went out and bought me a few ferns from the store. But I also have my own landscape company, (aka blue loster). He cut my ferns down to nobbs, so I move them to a new location where they have better chance at surviving. I buried them deep in the gravel with this product, and a week later I had baby flower patches growing up from the gravel. So I extremely advise you to purchase this product, because it's the real deal!!! Well worth it!

I tried these for the first time today and found that they dissolved within 5 seconds. I didn't get them buried before they completely disintegrated. I churned up the laterite where they dissolved in the hope that they will work. Put them in with tweezers as fast as you can! I was dropping them on to the bottom and pushing them in with a rod, at least that was the plan.
