Great companion for anyone! very shy at first, patience is keep to bonding with them. However, maintenance, cleaning, feeing, and bathing/grooming are a MUST! Make sure you do your research before buying/adopting ANY pet! My guinea pig is very vocal, and I love when he gets excited to see me when i get home. Overall, I love my purchase!

Guinea pigs are probably the most hardest pets to take care of, both of my guinea pigs get hay, fresh water, vegetables and sometimes fresh fruit and the pellet food as well
they live in a c&c cage,That's huge and spacious. I do reccomend them for people who want a challenge
Pros: fun pets
Cons: expensive, males can be smelly

We have 2 male guinea pigs as well as 2 gerbils and while my family seems to be more partial to the gerbils, the guinea pigs sure are cute.
If I had to give a rating solely based on preference, I think I would only give guinea pigs 4 stars. I have a feeling that my three boys will eventually grow tired of them. But they are my responsibility, so that's ok. And besides, I like kicking them off the video games anyway. LOL.
My advice to anyone with a kid begging for a guinea pig and listening to them swear up and down that they will clean up after it: while they may mean it, in reality they don't understand the commitment. Ask yourself, "Do I want a guinea pig for me? Because once they get bored, it is my responsibility to play with this thing and make sure it is fed and watered." If the answer is no, than steer them toward the pet that you ARE interested in.
Oh, and don't fall prey to the "fleece bedding" trend. It smells to high heaven. Just get the carefresh and your nose will thank you.
