Top Fin® Multi-Stage Internal Filter
Not for Betta; may be okay for other fish
The current this thing produces is way too strong for a Betta in an 8.5 gallon tank. I used it with and without the spray attachment. The attachment was very noisy and sent a strong spray of water out. Without it, the water gushed out of the nozzle, which was submerged, and I could tell by the motion of my silk plants that the fish was going to be unhappy. He wouldn't go near it. If you need a gentle underwater Betta-friendly filter, I suggest the Tetra Whisper 10i. I'm using that now with much relief and, I hope, long-term success. However, don't discount the Topfin filter's usefulness for other fish; it might be just fine for something other than Betta. My review is based solely on Betta-friendliness. The two filters cost the same at my local store.

This is a great filter, works fine
this filter works great, but it does take up room inside the tank, which I need for my goldfish, so I am upgrading to a canister filter, and I will use this one in my other tropical tank
all in all it is a great filter for the money

This filter works great! Put it in my 10gal tank along with a 10gal power filter. Very impressed with this filter and recommended it to my roommate and he replaced the filter in his 5gal tank and keeps it very clean. Couldn't ask for anything better and it was cheap!

I've been running this for 3 months, and have been really impressed. Quiet, and easy to clean. Remarkably good current from the spray bar. I havnt had to change the media yet, just rinse it out every month and its back to 100%. Also has a spot for activated carbon which is helpful when needed.
