All Living Things® Cockatiel Starter Kit
A good starter cage!
I bought this cage for my first lovebird. I knew nothing about cages, except for proper bar spacing. This cage is roomy for one small parrot, and is very good quality. I have had it for almost a year with no problems of chipping or cracking.
What I like about this cage: It looks nice, it's well-built and very sturdy. The front door is a good size and flips down, which my birds love to walk on when getting in and out the the cage. The other sliding doors will need to be locked or secured to keep escape artists from sneaking out.
I bought the starter kit, and the perches were too long to fit in the cage, as well as WAY too thick for a small parrot's little feet. I bought my own perches.
I have two small complaints with this style of cage. 1. A dome-top cage, although it looks nice, is not the best choice if you're looking for a lot of interior space. Birds typically love to hang out at the top of a cage, and the slanted sides don't leave much room for attaching perches and toys.
2. The bottom grate is removable, but only if you detach the top of the cage from the bottom tray, which is not difficult, but scary and sometimes loud around skittish birds. Every time I detached the two parts and removed the grate to clean it, my new (and very shy) birds went nuts.
I now have two lovebirds and am moving on to a larger cage. My new cage will have a slide-out grate and a flat top. Other than those two things, this was a great choice for a starter cage, and I would recommend it to house a small parrot like a lovebird or budgie.
