Rated 1 out of 5 by 3456 loud after few months fix
One problem here.. and it could be easily fixed if Fluval cared. The screw in holding the actual assembly down in the center (you have to open it up) will come loose and cause a rattling sound. If this happens to you, your pump will begin to make an annoying rattling sound that increases if the pump is turned upside down. Unplug it and with extreme caution - tighten the screw back down. Mine was completely backed out. Perhaps a little adhesive applied to the top of the screw and screw housing would prevent this from happening :/

A high price does not equal high quality. At least in this case. After it stopped working, I took it apart. The motor is working great and moving the baffle. The problem was that the baffle enclosure was made of plastic that was literally flaking off in my hands. It had chipped off all around the edge of the enclosure breaking the seal. The baffle was simply pumping air into the housing and not into the enclosure and down the tube. I tried super-gluing the enclosure back together and that worked for another week.
They do sell replacement enclosures for $3.99. I might try that and see if the plastic is any higher quality on a replacement.
The device lasted a little over a month. The $9.99 smaller air pump it replace had lasted 5+ years.

I have had the pump less than a year and it is already broken. It worked great at first but suddenly quit working after a few months.
