ZOO MED™ Reptihabitat Bearded Dragon 40 Gallon Terrarium Kit
Great Starter Kit
Overall this made getting our baby beardie so much easier as it came with the majority of things we needed to get started. The sliding lid is very secure even if the plastic sliding rails break a little and comes with 2 keys to lock the lid in place. On one side of the tank the rail was crushed and pulled away from the glass, but even with this minor disturbance the lid works excellent. We use the tank for our 8 inch baby beardie and he is fine with all of his extra space and can be caught exploring every inch of it during the early morning hours. Unfortunately the calcium powder provided is without D3 and beardies require a calcium powder with D3 because they are diurnal, this is not an expensive item to replace and we just mixed it with the calcium powder with D3 as we could not return the item and did not want it to go to waste. Our beardie would not eat the juvenile pellets that came with the kit but it is only a sample size and did not last long regardless, he will however eat red pellets straight off your finger (made by zilla). We absolutely love the dual deep dome light fixture and it works excellent. We did end up having to purchase an infrared red bulb and light dome because the dual fixture only held the UVB and basking bulb. The bulbs the kit comes with (100w) will only work during the beardie's juvenile years because of how much heat is produced, the basking site has a maximum temperature of 117 degrees Fahrenheit and an adult beardie requires a basking spot no higher than 105 degrees fahrenheit. The basking bulb did burn out after about 6 weeks but this is suspected to be a fluke as the bulb should last at least 4-6 months on a 12 hour cycle. The food and water dish are large and easy to clean and should last our beardie at least a life time. The sand will probably not be enough to completely fill the 40 gallon terrarium and when the time comes we will have to buy another bag. Very pleased with the quality of the kit and love the zoomed brand in general.

Its a good starting cage. I didnt use the sand it came with or the food dish because i had baby beardies. The grooves where the tank screen slides in is made of some kind of foam or balsa wood and breaks REALLY easily, so you just have to be careful with it. For everything it came with it was a pretty good value. Just be careful not to bend the screen down when it's partially slid in the grooves.
