There are crab owners out there that go all out with 20 gallon glass aquariums, and love it. But if you have a small child that wants a crab to watch, but an adult takes care of, then I recommend this one. Crabs are social communal creatures, so I recommend getting 2 for this tank. There are small wire openings on the sides, but the rest of the tank is a solid plastic enclosure that does help keep humidity in. I mist the tank daily, and make sure there are 2 wet sponges inside. I also cover the tank at night with a towel to help keep it warm & humid. I didn't use the food dish that came with it, it is to deep & small. I only used one of the palm trees, which my crabs do climb up on & sit on top. And I have a cocohut on the other side. The crabs enjoy climbing the wire sides, and I enjoy looking at them as they do. It's not a professional tank, but as long as you take care of the crabs, don't over crowd them, & offer 2 water dishes, 1 salt & 1 fresh, they should be fine. It has a deep plastic bottom for a good depth of sand/dirt bottom.

it took me like two hours to put together. but on the bright side it was a lot bigger then I thought a lot of room for my two little hermies to climb .but the dish that it came with is way to big for them there is no way the can get up there. but other then that it is a good cage

This is not a very good cage for a hermit crab. Let's remember, they are tropical pets and need humidity. The open bars don't keep in enough moisture for them. I recommend using one of Petmsmart's aquariums. I would like to buy another hermit crab in the future and will get a 10 gallon tank for them.

It took me over an hour to snap all the pieces together and make sure everything was secure. It wasn't until after I put the hermit crabs in the cage that I realized they needed a high humidity environment to stay healthy and this cage was not the best type. But the 1st night after I turned out the lights the crabs became active and seemed to enjoy climbing the sides of the cage. So I put a warm mist humidifier next to the cage. So far the crabs seem very happy.
