I bought this product because I just recently got a new puppy. my wife works from home and a dog barked at every little noise. I turn this product on and didn't even make the dog stop barking once.

I bought this a couple weeks ago for my 2 year old 85lb German Shepherd. I wanted to try something with a lot less oomph to help control his barking habit. This worked at first, but soon he got used to the sound and it didn't phase him. What is even worse is the sound was loud, a human could easily hear it as well as my other dog. I would recommend this product to someone who knows that their dog does not like loud or irritating noises. At first my shepherd didn't like squeaky toys so I really thought this would work. It didn't...but nonetheless at this point I have tried shock collars with and without the remote control and those didn't seem to phase him at all. I would say this was the best approach I took and the battery lasted the few days I was using it. It takes (1) 9V battery which is good because you can find them anywhere so that's a plus.

by 2Chihuahuas Be Warned!
The Sunbeam Bark Egg is very effective, HOWEVER, since it is a device that is intended to be used automatically (turn it on and leave it) take warning that other noises can trigger the device to be set off! This is especially true in a house with kids, TV, music or other types of loud noise. The fact that the item works as described and is very effective, would earn it 5 stars BUT since you have no real control over when it goes off, I knock the rating to a 3. The volume setting is good, and for outdoor situations against a neighbors dog or your own dog who is left outside while the family is at school or work and has a bad barking habit, this will work great. But for use indoors and for true training, I would recommend the handheld device. This way you can allow a few warning barks, verbally commanded the dog "Quiet", "Stop", "No Bark" whatever, THEN hit the device to emit the sound. This (turn it on and leave it) device causes confusion and fear when the sound is emitted because of a loud noise in house. We have started using it like a handheld device in order to effectively train our two Chi's to stop barking. I have a few neighbor dogs I plan to introduce to the device after my dogs are trained. And again if you need to control barking on your dogs when you are gone and they are outside, this will device should definitely get the job done!
