Catfish typically prefer to be in groups of three or more. However, larger species can be kept individually. Some species of catfish are useful in keeping the aquarium clean and free from algae. As omnivores, catfish eat both plant and animal matter, including prepared foods, small live foods and certain vegetables. If you must handle your catfish be aware that they have stiff, sharp spines on their fins that can inflict painful wounds.

Feeding Habits
Juveniles: Live blood worms, glass worms, brine shrimp, tubifex worms and fish. Frozen plankton, beef heart, brine shrimp, glass worms and blood worms. Freeze dried and tablet foods also accepted. Adults are primarily vegetarians as they lose their teeth when they mature. Small fish will still be eaten by the adults since they will swallow them whole.

Compatibility
Peaceful and schooling with fish of the same size, but will eat any fish it can fit into their mouth.

Habitat
Thailand: Sparingly decorated with rocks, live plants and driftwood. Live plants may be eaten by the adult Pangasius.

Additional Comments
Their eyesight is very poor, and they search for food by smell.
