These catfish are a great choice for beginner to intermediate level aquarists because they are quite hardy and adaptable, very peaceful, and they help keep the bottom of the aquarium clean by eating up leftover fish food and algae. For a catfish, this species is small growing 3 to 4 inches in length as an adult. These bottom dwelling fish prefer to be in schools of 6 or more but 1 or 2 are often kept in smaller tanks. This catfish comes in a variety of intriguing colorations.
