- For ages 10 & up
Crocodile geckos are insectivores which means they eat mostly live insects including "gut loaded" (feed the insects a special supplement so they have extra nutrients) crickets, mealworms or waxworms. They are active during the day and sleep at night. Crocodile geckos can be territorial, and are healthiest and happiest living alone.
Things to remember
Crocodile geckos are very fast and have fragile skin, so it's best to limit handling them. Take care to never handle him by the tail - it could break off.
"Dust" the insects with a calcium supplement twice a week - ask a PetSmart associate for details.
Feeding amounts & frequency
Feed juveniles twice a day; adults 3-4 times a week - offer an amount that can be consumed by the end of the day.
Provide drinking water in a shallow dish and change it daily.
Use a 20-gallon or larger, tall glass terrarium with a screen lid for proper ventilation.
Line the home with a 2"-3" layer of bark bedding or calcium sand. Clean out waste weekly and change bedding at least once a month.
