Golden geckos are omnivores and do well on a diet consisting of a variety of vitamin/calcium dusted insects such as crickets, mealworms and waxworms as well as fruits such as bananas and mangos, which are rich in calcium. These geckos will also accept fruit baby food and prepared foods. As with most arboreal (tree dwelling) geckos, it is best not to handle golden geckos frequently. Not only are they fast, their skin is sensitive and can be damaged easily. Children should only handle these geckos in the company of an adult. These geckos are excellent display reptiles for terrariums.

Things to remember

Handling
Malaysian golden geckos are very fast and have fragile skin, so it's best to limit handling them. Take care to never handle him by the tail - it could break off.

Calcium dust
"Dust" the insects with a calcium supplement twice a week - ask a PetSmart associate for details.

Feeding amounts & frequency
Feed juveniles twice a day; adults 3-4 times a week - offer an amount that can be consumed by the end of the day.

Water
Provide drinking water in a shallow dish and change it daily.

Housing
Use a 20-gallon or larger, tall glass terrarium with a screen lid for proper ventilation.

Bedding
Line the home with a 2"-3" layer of Bed-A-Beast bedding. Clean out waste weekly and change bedding at least once a month.
