Rated 4 out of 5 by KEYBOARDINGBOSS Very picky once they get older
These fish are great... While there young. The will eat only snails, comets, ghost shrimp and rosy reds once they exceed 15 inches other than that they are great

Rated 5 out of 5 by Holytotemic STOP CALLING THEM DINOSAUR BICHIRS!!!
Everywhere else that's a reputable fish retailer calls them by their real name Senegal bichir or Polypterus senegalus. Only Petsmart invented the name Dinosaur Bichir. /endrant
Great fish, love my three to death. the attached picture are two of the three I bought at petsmart. Started at 2 inches, the largest in the image is a foot, purchase widely, they WILL outgrow the tank they are put in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by 5ft24 this is NOT an eel
These are actually called the Senegal Bichir. They are not an eel. They are also not easy to care for and require a high protein MEAT diet.
Definitely not for the beginner, and when they do get big enough will eat smaller fish. I have had several over the years.
