Velvet Wag Swordtail
I got this swordtail a few weeks after I got my first tank. When I got him he was a baby and his sword was still developing. When I put him in the tank he was really nice to the other fish. He would sometimes protect my female platy from my male platy when she gets annoyed with him. I would recommend this fish to anyone, but I recommend getting only one if your getting a male. And if you get a male I would not recommend getting any females if you don't want any babies.

I got one of these platies. I also got another platy (Marigold Variatus) to hang out with him. As soon as I put him in the tank, Velvet, hid. Swordtails aren't known to be docile, but if you don't give them another one of their own kind, they get depressed. I'm getting him a buddy. So, if you want some, get at least two. These little guys are great community fish, though. Their very friendly towards other fish and Swordtails are beautiful!! Definitely recommend color enhancing flake food. Overall pretty good fish!!

Cuties/ Protective/ Subtle
My boyfriend and I named our Swordtails' after us. We have a male and a female. They thrive in leafy plants that they can swim and hide in, our female loves to swim away and the male chases after her to bring her back to her home. They are great with other fish as well and he is the protector of the tank.
