Colorful and active
I bought 3 of these Rosy Barbs on sale (they only had 3 in stock otherwise I might have purchased a few more). I was attracted to them by their shiny metallic red scales. They like to stick together in a large 135 gallon tank and can usually be found in a group. They seem to usually get along well with the other fish in the tank, mostly a variety of tetras that were added later.
Sometimes the largest of the rosy barbs chases the other smaller fish, and even the other two barbs (especially the paler more silver rosy barb, which I think may be a female), but only for a second or two. They steer clear of and don't bother larger fish.
Not as agressive as some other barb types I've seen and I think these would fit well in most community tanks with similar fast moving fish.
They are very active and are fun to watch as they swim around and pick at algae and other debris on the bottom. Quick eaters and are always hungry for more it seems. Make sure your other slower, less agressive fish get something to eat too.

Glad I got them
I have a few aquariums, and I broke down and bought these little guys for my daughters' tank. They caught my oldest's eyes, and she thought they were "beautiful." They are quite colorful, as well as active. They have this shimmering quality to their scales, which is a nice touch to your tank. They go well with other schooling fish like neon tetras, and seeing everyone zooming around keeps my kids entertained. They have varied diet, and enjoy eating flakes and pellets. I even give them peas without the shell, which they gobble up. Occasionally they get shrimp larvae. I've found that having plenty of plants to give them chill out time has cut down on tail nipping, as they do tend to get a bit hyper..lol. But overall, they are a good fish.

looks even prettier then the picture!
i love my rosy barb .... beautiful fish. Very active and seems to love to play with the other fish. He gets along great in my 60 gal semi-aggressive tank (very semi aggressive) This fish may be the smallest in the tank, but has one of the biggest personalities. I was almost against getting him at first because i just didn't think he would fit in with the other fish (black ghost knife, angelicus botia, rainbow shark, leaf fish, gourami ect) but he's a blast and the other fish love him.

I got one of these fish because of it being a barb, and because of its color. It was well worth it! It was very lively in my tank and added a lot of color to my tank and even brought out some of my shyer fish! Worth your money!
