I have a male and I will tell you, he is so active! He's always pecking at algae and swimming. He also eats A LOT. But he's so peaceful and sometimes swims alongside of flame dwarf gourami.

Great, hardy guys. I only have two in my 20 gallon but thinking about getting more later. Whenever you're introducing fish, while acclimating, turn the lights off and leave the bag floating for at least 30 minutes. But make sure to keep the lights off for a good hour or two after you put your fish in there. I found that the fish tend to be more shy if I don't do this

This fish is VERY hardy, at least mine certainly are. They also are very beautiful fish and get along with other species of platy and the same species of platy as they are themselves. I have a red wag and a sunburst mickey mouse platy, they get along great with each other. The only problem is that my red wag platy is often chasing my male fancy guppy all over the place, but my other platy doesn't, so it probably only occurs in some platys to chase around other fish. However he leaves my neon tetras alone so that's a plus side to it I guess. Btw be sure not to overfeed them they get fat really easily
