These guys get pretty big although if you keep them in a small tank they will absolutely stay small. Some people use this technique to maintain small fish. One cool fact about these fish is that they are related to the largest freshwater fish in the world! The Panasidon Gigas. (or the Mekong Giant Catfish) Be sure to look it up!

This fish is a sensitve fish, i suggest having a 80 gallon or bigger, these fish will grow to be big. when you catch them in a net and transfer them to the tank or bag. they play possom and will act dead.
they need a tank that wont be torn down alot, they do great with the weekly water changes. i suggest getting one that is 4 in. or bigger. the smaller ones are more sensitive and dont last long.
they are an awsome looking fish and also known as the irridescent shark. they look something like a hammerhead shark. i have had mine now for 6 months and he's about 6 inches long.

Experienced owners with large tanks
I got one of these originally because they just look awesome! It is a really cool fish to watch swim around and he was such a little guy at first. Little did I know from a lack of research he got real big real quick. Upgraded to a bigger tank and he did really well. The only major downside besides the size issue is just that they are EXTREMELY skittish and there were multiple occasions where he jumped out of the tank onto the floor during cleanings. the 30gal tank was more than enough for him size-wise but they just get so scared they will go anywhere to not deal with your hand. Great fish, just make sure you have the tank and are prepared for some catfish catchin!

I've had one of these for about four years and it only about 12 inches long. He's a nice fish who mostly keeps to himself. I have several neon tetras and white cloud tetras and he just ignores them. I didn't realize that his species gets to four feet long. I would not recomend this fish to beginners or people who do not have 500+ tanks or ponds to house them. Oh, and my tank is a 36 bowfront.
