grate for a first time pet!
Easy to train. Learns better if it's young, my parakeets a great companion! You would need it's wings clipped, they try to get out every chance they have! They learn easy commands such as step up and step down, head bang and more! ha ha ha!..... there great first pets! If you were going to get a pet I would recommend a parakeet! They're easy to clean up, they like to talk and chirp. They're fun companions! fyi You don't need to lock up there cage because they won't typically get out of their cage.

Very nice and sweet!
I didn't even have to put any effort in taming him. I bought him tamed! He flies and jumps to my shoulder and loves to sit on my finger. Highly recommended.

Much easier to take care of than most people think
I got my first "Keet" about 50 years ago. So you can see that I'm an old bird myself. A few reviews mentioned cleaning and bathing. If you don't already have one, I recommend using a hand held rechargeable vac, such as a Dust Buster or something similar. After making it a daily morning habit, it won't be a "chore". Many birds even like the extra attention they get every morning after their long night snooze. If bathing in a shallow dish in their cage isn't your deal, mist them with a spray bottle once a week. This will keep ordinary house dust from accumulating on your buddy (or is it budgie?) and they like the attention. When they first come home to their new Home within your Home, move slow around them until they gain your trust. All birds have their own personalities (just like people), so be patient. If you have any questions about ANYTHING pertaining to your new friend, contact one of the folks at Petsmart. Best of luck to you and your new Buddy.

Hi, I have researched parakeets a million times from what I've heard and my experience, if dogs are not your thing whether you can't take care of it or you can't afford it parakeets are the next big thing there easy to take care of all you have to do is refill it's food and water everyday and play with it you do not have to wash it but you can and there lots of fun and they are the best pets for children 8-14 have lots of fun withe your parakeet
p.s. they also use the bathroom.
