Are My Kittens Having a Catfight?
There’s nothing “catty” about a little sparring—it’s all in good fun
Learning through play
First-time parents of more than one kitten might be alarmed by ferocious-seeming fights between kitty-siblings. Don’t worry! The occasional tussle helps them learn social behavior.
Watch the kitten scuffles closely and you may notice that though there’s wrestling and nipping, there isn’t a lot of scratching, smacking or permanent harm.
Kittens also enjoy playing “chicken” with their siblings, approaching them as if to tackle them, and then veering away at the last moment (or losing their balance and taking a tumble).
It’s all about figuring out boundaries, developing paw-eye coordination and getting exercise.
