I purchased this to replace the one for my mother's 5 gallon tank, but not only is it too large (I ended up using it in my 10 gallon tank), it is louder than the filter in my 30 gallon tank! I have a bubble decoration and an air stone wall in the 10 gallon tank and it drowns out the noise from both, plus the noise from the 30 gallon tank. It is also larger than the filter in my 30 gallon tank. The filters are also ridiculously expensive. I will definitely be returning this item.

I love this filter. It was so easy to set up,and quiet for a filter. The fish love that it moves the water so great. I'm ordering another one now.

I had purchased a 10 gallon setup that came with everything. From the get go, I was very dissatisfied with the operation of the filter. I Did some research and found this filter. I had been having trouble with cloudy water due to high phosphate level. I tried 2 different water clarity products with no help with the cloudy water. I Set up this filter and immediately liked it. In less than 48 hours the water is crystal clear. I Love the adjustable water flow. On its high setting, this filter really moves some water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KaitlynM I recently set up my five gallon aquarium which I purchased a few years ago in a Top Fin starter kit. The filter which came with that kit did a good job of cleaning the water but the outflow of it was incredibly strong. Far too strong for the betta fish that I chose to occupy my tank. It would have shoved him clear down to the bottom of the tank.
After doing some looking around online and reading advice from other betta owners, I settled on the SuperClean 5-20 because it has an adjustable outflow. Not only that but it also had ceramic rings inside to help build a colony of beneficial bacteria. So I bought one, took it home and set it up, and it's been running perfectly for several weeks now. My betta isn't stressed out and pushed around by any strong currents and the filter runs so quietly that sometimes I have to get up and go check that it's still working. This is the best filter I've ever had in an aquarium. I highly recommend it, especially for use with fish who are sensitive to water currents.
