These 'Cartridges' work effectively filtering my aquarium, but these 'Cartridges' allow small 'Carbon chips' to pass through the backside of the cartridges; these small chips can get into the Impeller Chamber (causing noise and inefficient spinning of the Impeller), and these chips can also, get into the Spray Bars (Decreasing water flow and Reducing the Revolutions of the Bio Wheels). I advise that when Rinsing these Cartridges, (from front to back and wiping the backside, plastic surface, with hands and fingers), removing Carbon Dust, (a Must; any Dust not rinsed from the Cartridges will cause a film to appear on the surface of the water), run your hand back and forth against the backside of the Cartridges and you will see these 'Small Carbon Chips' being flushed out of the Cartridge. I spend a minute or two or three, doing this 'flush', turning the Cartridge as I do this; I am never able to fully, eliminate all of these 'chips' from being flushed out, but I attempt to get the majority of them, if I can. . . .Would be nice if Marineland could use a bit lager Carbon, and / or find a way for these chips to not get broken into smaller chip during shipping / handling; if that happens to be the case.

These cartridges make aquarium maintenance easy. Just pull out old one and repace eith new one.

Outstanding - we have several large aquariums, all freshwater, and these filters help keep the water clean & fresh.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Joseph57 The Emperor line of filters the 240 and 400 model have been my choice for over 20 years.
The Emperor Filter line is a blessing to the Salt water community. The quality, long term performance and reliability is outstanding. The ability to quickly change out the blue filter elements up front make tank house keeping a breeze. Secondly the aft media baskets offer you an unique advantage unlike any other product. If you open the basket on a counter top cut a poly filter into strips and apply it into one side of the media basket. On the opposite side of the basket add either bio ceramic media on one side if you have the 400 model and/or chemi pure. The 400 model affords you two such filter elements and media baskets. by doing this I have completely eliminated issues from phosphates and other water quality issues.
