What a mess! No matter how many different ways I tried to arrange these 2 pieces, I could not get it to not spill, drip or leak. If I turned it upside down to fill, it leaked from the lid. If I left it snapped together and tried to fill it from the top, it overflowed from the dish or dripped out of the snap holes on the bottom. It's going back to the store.

Well this product does work well, however, my 8 month old kitten decided to try to remove the plastic wrap polka dot pattern herself, the day after I bought this, and proceeded to dump ALL of the water out. I came home to a living room entry way that I had to wade through. (OK maybe it wasn't quite that bad, but there was a good quarter inch of standing water) If you have a playful kitty, I would suggest removing the plastic pattern before leaving him/her with it. But I cannot promise that it wasn't the motion/movement of the plastic water release thing that caught her eye at first, so removing the plastic may not make a difference.

I bought this for my cat so she could always have a waterer while one of them is being washed and drying. I don't have any problems with it. It's easy to clean, holds the water and doesn't make a mess. However, it is tiny. My cat weighs 9lbs and it's almost too small for her. She drinks out of it but she prefers her older waterer that's much bigger. This would be perfect for a kitten or tiny dog.
