It's the middle of the night and I wake up and may pet rat is crawling all over me. I put her back in the cage and go back to sleep. I wake up and she is crawling all over me again. I start to think that my room is haunted. So I turn on the lights and there is a huge hole in the bace of the cage. And now my rats are living in there extra cage that I put them in their so I can clean there cage.

Thought this cage was amazing for about the first six months. And then we brought home some new medium sized rats. Didn't take an hour before they realized that they could squeeze through the bars. Then about two months later our females decided to chew escape holes in the base when they were in heat. About twice a week for the next month we had a new exit to discover in the morning.
All that aside this cage was great! It's sturdy, spacious, easy to clean. The shelves and ladders are easy to maneuver where you want them. The deep base is great for extra nesting spaces. Tons of room for bedding! Even with a litter pan. And considering all that it's a great price...
IF - You don't have tiny squeakers (remember if the head can fit so can the body!). And you don't have escape artists. Especially if it's housing rats like mine. Remember their teeth are sharp! They can get through this plastic in mere minutes if they want to.
