My son's 3 month old, 23 gallon aquarium experienced an algae bloom unlike any I had ever seen. It was suspended algae, as opposed to surface algae, and the result was a green cloudy tank that was so obscured that you literally couldn't see halfway through the tank. You could see the fish when they came to the front of the tank, but as they swam toward the back of the tank they "disappeared" into the murky water.
We kept thinking that this relatively new tank would correct itself, and since the fish didn't seem to be having any issues we gave it several weeks to work itself out, but it didn't. We tried turning off the lights for a couple of days with no results. Then we tried the Top Fin algae gone at the rate of 1ml per 10 gallons, which was easily measured with the included cap.
The results were nothing short of remarkable. Within 48 hours, the tank was absolutely crystal clear and has remained so for a week afterward. There was no algae whatsoever. I'm not sure whether this will continue to protect against algae growth, or whether we'll have to use it again, but I was very impressed with the results.
