I've had this pump for a while now, and I'm not thrilled with it. I thought it was great at first, and my cat was drinking more water. But the filter needs to be changed at least once a month, if not more frequently, and the pump collects a lot of crud that is really hard to clean. It's cheaply made, so the pieces are hard to get to fit together properly, so it takes a lot of trial and error to get it to go back together every time and to get the water to pump properly.

We have a 5 month old Yorkie that just did not like tap water and would not drink. I bought this to see if his water were filtered maybe he would drink more H2O and wow! what a difference it made. His nose is never dry now (before it was always dry because he was not drinking enough). This item is fantastic! It's very easy to assemble (5 easily portrayed steps). You change the filter every 30 days which at that time I used baking soda to scrub the inside of the unit and get any hard water off and cleaning with baking soda is non-toxic cleaner. Our box actually has a cat on it but it worked great for our Yorkie. The motor unit is very silent. I love that aspect. My parents have a larger unit (different brand) and you can hear this annoying humming all the time. So glad you hear nothing with this unit. VERY PLEASED with my purchase. Another plus, it has a one year warranty so save your box and receipt if it breaks (mine hasn't) you can take it and exchange for another. :)

It does not flow well enough to circulate the water when I use the filters that are made for it. Clean up is not easy. It gets moldy in nearly impossible places to clean. Would not purchase again.

I have had cats for 25 yrs and used Drinkwell water fountains , bought a Petmate about 4 months ago and it has never worked at all. I cant get it to circulate water so it goes in the cabinet. I pulled it out yesterday and tried again to make it work, no go. I will never buy again and my monies are wasted on this.
