I have used these filters in my fresh flow water fountain for the 5 yr. I've owned the fountain. Used these filters all 5 yr. and every one has given good service. I wash the filters before the first use but have never had any loose carbon particles. Someone said it clogs up....I would suggest they might try washing/cleaning the fountain and filter more often. The filter is easy to clean, just put it under running water or flowing water from bottled water and flip it for extended use. I clean my fountain & filter every other week. No issues in any way for 5 yr. and will be purchasing a second fresh flow fountain of the larger size. As for purchasing filters...ordering it is expensive for the light weight, yes; so I purchase them in the store from a competitor who stocks them. It would be nice if PetSmart stocked them though. These filters are an excellent buy and do their job anywhere you buy them!

I had to order online as the filters were not available in store. All was good except for the package that only weighed a few ounces, the price charged for postage was outrageous.

I use these filters in my cat's water fountain and they are a great bargain when bought in bulk. They provide him with fresh filtered water and he tends to drink more when using the fountain.
