It does hide the litter box so I guess it works for that. Interesting that some of the 4 and 5 star reviews do not include how it works for actual use by a cat. It is made of low quality thin plywood (not high quality wood pieces). Be careful when putting it together not to over tighten the screws since it is easy to strip out the wood. The part about storing litter scoop and other accessories sounds good but is totally unrealistic. My advice is do not install the "interior panel." If installed it leaves too small a space for a litter box and no room for the cat to move around at all. The interior is solid black and my cats did not seem to like that. I had trouble finding a litter pan that would fit. The interior height is 13.25 inches. By the time you add a litter box and 2 inches of litter there is about 11 inches of headroom for the cats. If the litter pan has 5 inch sides the cat has an eight inch gap to crawl over to get into and out of the litter box to use it. I have three cats and have read that I should therefore have three litter boxes. I tried this Designer Cat Litter Box enclosure and, in the end, none of my cats would use the litter box inside it. As cats vary so much, it might work for yours but at $150 it may not be worth trying it out unless Petsmart will let you return it once it has been used and disassembled and that is a lot of bother.

I like this enclosure, it is attractive and I can have it in the family room now that one of my cats doesn't navigate the steps to the basement very well anymore. It took a couple of weeks for my cats to start using it regularly, a litter box attractant helped. I put a crate pad on top giving my cats another place to sleep when we are all watching TV. I lined it with a puppy pad to help catch any messes. It was hard to find a litter box that was larger and still fit inside, but persistance prevailed. That said I had to send mine back for a refund after 2 months because the hinges for the lid tore away from the side while I was emptying the cat box. The flaw is the lid doesn't want to stay up, no matter how much you adjust the spring, so it wants to fall shut which is what it did when the hinges tore away. My suggestion, don't put the hinges on, just lift the lid on and off, it stays in place pretty well due to the weight of the lid.

A cat needs an open place to defecate. A closed environment just makes the cat more prone to dust, leading to lung diseases and more expensive medical bills. If you are really concerned about the odour, buy a charcoal stub to place next to the litter box. It will absorb all the odours and is not harmful to the cat. This particular product prevents an open environment.
