I bought this dog house to provide shelter to a feral cat who has adopted us. When I opened the box, I was not thrilled with it. The wood was splintering, and the floor boards had purposeful gaps in between them which isn't great for temperature control or to provide shelter from the rain, but since I had planned to line it with insulating Styrofoam I decided to give it a shot. Imagine my surprise when I opened it to clean it out and found mold caused from a roof leak. Overall, this is a very poorly made item and not suitable to provide protection from the elements. If this is going to be your animal's primary shelter, please do not buy this item.

This manufacturer has greatly dissapointed us. We purchased this house, which looks exactly like the original wood construction we bought 8 years ago. It was much heavier material, weighing twice as much then and lasted. They fooled us with the current manufacturing product: flimsy and light. Sure, the wood is the same nice material but very thin walls and construction. Our dog is 95% outdoors and thru the winter, so shelter is so important. Just like many things these days, trying to cut corners and proffit. I'm sure they would now like to sell me the companion, about $100 more "insullation kit" which looks like plastic lining. Other fancy houses cater to the owner's aesthetic desires rather than the dog's comfort. Please shop carefully. I would look at weights.
